โฆ Synopsis
A L AR G E-S C ALE laboratory liquefier which can work in a refrigerating cycle and produce liquid parahydrogen is essential in order to supply large liquid hydrogen chambers. Such a liquefier must have an output of ,,~200 1./h. A liquefier like this has been constructed along the lines previously proposed by the authors 1 and realized 2,3 with smaller-scale liquefiers.
A refrigeration cycle is used (Figure ) with Joule-Kelvin expansion of the hydrogen from highpressure and precooling with liquid nitrogen in two baths at atmospheric pressure and under vacuum. For the refrigerating cycle, and to obtain parahydrogen, the
