โœฆ Synopsis

Electronic and vibrational emission spectra have been produced by the reaction of H atoms with NO, nnd studied under moderate resolving power. Preliminary rotational analyses of some of the bands give Y',' = 2684.7 cm-', u;' = 1565.3 cm-' and LJ;' = 1500.4 cm-'. The values for v',' and v'; are considerably different from earlier published values.

The geometry of NHzNO has been optimised at the HF level of theory with basis sets ranging from STO-3G to 6-3 I 1 G\*\*. The lowest-energy structure is not planar as previously predicted. Flash photolysis of CH3CHO and H2CO in the presence of NO has been investigated by the intracavity laser spectroscopy technique. The decay of HNO formed by the reaction HCO + NO \* HNO + CO was studied a t NO pressures of 6.&380 torr. At low NO pressure HNO was found to decay by the reaction HNO + H
