✦ Synopsis
The reactions of Fe(II) ions with various hydroperoxides have been studied in detail in many papers since they are a source of radicals for various polymerization reactions. Several methods have been used for measuring the rate of these reactions. In the present paper, a rotating disk electrode (RDE), which is very suitable for kinetic studies, is used. RDE's made of platinum, palladium, gold, and glassy carbon have been used in order to establish the possible effect of the electroactive nature of the electrode on the reaction rate. The method of moments 1'2 was verified on this system and compared with the method of LandSberg and Haberland 3, the solution of which was carried out graphically.
