## Abstract Occupational exposure to beryllium may cause chronic beryllium disease (CBD), a granulomatous interstitial pneumonitis caused by a cell‐mediated immune response with delayed hypersensitivity initiated by an electrostatic interaction with the MHC class II human leukocyte antigen (HLA). I
