โฆ Synopsis
The application of magnetochemical techniques ranging from temperature dependent bulk magnetic susceptibility measurements down to 4K using the Gouy technique or a vibrating sample magnetometer (VW) to electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy coupled with spectral simulation is illustrated by recent work from our research group. The examples discussed extend from maingroup molecular cations in the compounds 12[Sb2F111, 14[AsF612 Br2[Sb3F161 and 02[AsF61 to transition metal fluoro fluorosulfato derivatives of both early and late transitionmetals. The examples discussed illustrate unusual oxidation states like Au(I1) and coordination geometries, valence isomerism and disproportionation, depending on the method of preparation and the observation of ferro -as well as antiferromagnetism in layered materials.
