โœฆ Synopsis

Rotationally periodic (or cyclic) symmetry is exploited in the element-free Galerkin (EFG) analysis for heat transfer problems of two-dimensional systems. It is proved that the coefficient matrices of the global EFG equations are block-circulant. Furthermore, a partitioning algorithm is presented, and the computational convenience and efficiency are demonstrated. A technique dealing with asymmetric boundary conditions is developed to extend the application of the proposed approach. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the advantages of such exploitation of symmetry in the context.
