✦ Synopsis

This paper investigates the operation of an axial field-switched reluctance generator, referred to as an AFSRG, when it is driven by wind energy. The generator is excited periodically through a battery charged from a photovoltaic module at low current values compared with output load current. The AFSRG system components are described with an illustration of each component's function. The AFSRG's performance is described using a simple simulation for a wide speed range and at different output voltages.
