Abstract
The slumbering US job market has cooled hopes for significant improvement in the real estate markets and even the most optimistic are now pinning their hopes on next year. There is however a distinction among the major American markets as to which will lead the recovery, and which will be laggards. Underlying the βtopβlineβ employment data, specific pockets of strength are evident. This article provides an overview of the American economy and real estate markets, and explores a strategy to capitalise on the improving market fundamentals.
