✦ Synopsis
Amorphous superconductors exhibit very large values of the Ginzburg-Landau parameter K due to the small electronic diffusivity characteristic of these materials. Measurements of both the upper and lower critical fields H~2 and He1 have been made in an effort to characterize the properties of the mixed state in several of these materials. The temperature dependences of He1 and Hc2 are compared with the predictions of the microscopic theory in the limit where K >> 1. Both the H~t and H~2 curves are found experimentally to lie above the theoretically predicted curves. The extent of the discrepancy was found to vary among the amorphous alloys studied. Possible explanations for this behavior are discussed.
