✦ Synopsis
The fluorescence emission of trans-2-styrylanthracene has been analysed as a function of A,,, and temperature over a large temperature range. In addition to the normal fluorescence (already described) of the two conformational isomers (rotamers), which exist in solution as an equilibrium mixture, a third fluorescence component has been detected in some experimental conditions (T> 200 K, I,,, < 410 nm). From the analysis, the third component has been assigned to an anti-Kasha emission from a thermally uonulated S, state. On the basis of a two-excited-electronic-level model, all the related photophysical paiameters Gave been obtained.
