ALTHCUGH the uncatalyzed, thermal decomposition of several a-substituted a-diazoketones has yielded ketenes, these have not been isolated from the decomposition products of a-diazoketones of type RCCXXN2 and investigation of such products has been scant. 3 In connection with a study of the Wolff 4 rearrangement we have examined the thermal decomposition of a-diazoacetophenone in dodecane.
