✦ Synopsis

Chromatography, theory Plate number calculation corrected for wide initial peaks Direct method of correction factor calculation

The following equation is used to determine the number of theoretical plates, N, from the peak width, w, , at any height ratio, r, and the retention volume, 7, in the case of an initially thin zone occupying only one plate at the start [l] It can still be used with little error for a zone of finite width provided that where No is the number of plates occupied by thezone at column inlet and N is total number of plates in column.

## Abstract In this work, a composite right/left handed (CRLH) transmission line implemented by means of complementary split rings resonators (CSRRS) and interdigital capacitors is designed to provide a transmission band useful for ultra wide band (UWB) applications, i.e., in the interval 3.1–10.6
