A linear theory of the fluctuationa growth in the positive column of a glow discharge due to ionization wave weak convective instability id given. The apectrum of the fluctuations as function of the position along the axis of the column id calculated aauming localised, white noise source. The calculated results are in some cases in a good agreement with the experimental observations.
