A study of flux-line dimensionality on untwinned YBa2Cu307.8 and Bi2Sr2CaCu208 is presented. The type of penetration of a transverse magnetic component into a pre-existing longitudinal vortex assembly permits to determine whether its character is dominantly 2D or 3D.
