β¦ Synopsis
Inelastic neutron-scattering experiments on an amorphous Fes6Co4Zrlo Invar alloy have been performed. It was observed that the generalized phonon density of states in the low-energy region becomes soft below the Curie temperature. This result is quite similar to the phonon softening of the crystalline Invar alloy, indicating that low-energy phonon softening is a common feature of Invar alloys. In addition, it is suggested that the electrical resistivity minimum near the Curie temperature may be attributed to the extra electron-phonon scattering contribution.
