In this paper, the absorption spectrum of PbWO 4 :Cr 3+ crystals is measured at room temperature in the wavelength range from 340 to 520 nm. The d-d transitions of Cr 3+ ions in PbWO 4 crystals with tetragonal symmetry are calculated by the crystal-field theory. The theoretical results are in good a
