โœฆ Synopsis

The performance of the 3000 USGPD prototype and the projected performance of larger scale plants confirms the potential benefits of centrifugal reverse osmosis : reduced energy consumption, improved reliability, lower levels of noise and vibration, and reduced requirements for pretreatment. The prototype unit is installed and operated on board a Canadian Navy vessel . Designs for larger systems have been developed and are awaiting opportunities for implementation . The future for this technology looks very bright.

Most important in any economic analysis of a desalting process is a comparison frame of reference. This "frame of reference" provides the means for comparison with other processes. Metallic components are essential to the successful operation of reverse osmosis plants . Corrosion conditions in these plants are often severe and it is important to select the correct material to optimise cost and performance . The authors discuss the corrosion properties of stainless steels and r
