✦ Synopsis

The response of an undamped n degree of freedom system to an internally applied harmonic displacement excitation is investigated. Reciprocal relationships between the response to external force excitation and internal displacement excitation are discussed and solutions in series form are obtained. The receptance functions and transfer ratios associated with these excitations are used in the synthesis of vibrating systems involving the insertion of a secondary system within the primary system. Solutions are obtained for the free and forced vibration of the composite system.
