โฆ Synopsis
the Southern California Gas Company curtailed deliveries of gas to the electric utilities on its system. These include Southern California Edison Company, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the Imperial Irrigation District, and the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena.
SoCalGas is the largest gas distribution company in the United States, with an annual throughput of over a trillion cubic feet of gas a year. The large electrib utility customers represent roughly a third of SoCalGas's load.
The curtailment lasted for forty-six days, from 6:OO A.M., August 16 until midnight, September 30. In the last three years, it was the third curtailment of SoCalGas's utility electric generation (UEG) customers-and the first to occur during the August-through-October period of lowest air quality in the Los Angeles Basin.
