A transformation

formula is given for the generalized hypergeometric function in series of similar functions. It is also shown how easily this formula, can be applied to deduce various classes of summ&tion theorems for multiple hypergeometric series. The main results ( 12), ( 15) and ( 18) below are believed to be new.
