The present paper deals with the structure of the ovary of the humpback whale (Megaptera nodosa). The material was collected by Lt. T. R. Midtlyng, U. S. C. G., who was attached to the whaling factory reduction ship S.S. Frango, operating in Shark's Bay, Western Australia, in 1938. Mr. Charles E.

Jackson, Acting Commissioner of the .Bureau of Fisheries, kindly placed the material at our disposal.
