At 293β K, a crystalline terpenoid indole alkaloid, the title compound, C~21~H~25~N~2~O~3~ ^+^Β·Cl^β^, has been isolated from __Gelsemium elegans__ Benth, a Chinese folk medicine plant. Structural ambiguities have been resolved by the X-ray crystallographic analysis. Intramolecular CβH...O and intermo
