Cyanocarbons are electron poor and form numerous Mulliken donor-acceptor complexes, [1] whereas their radical anions are stabilized by charge and spin delocalization, and form numerous stable electron transfer salts. As a consequence of their unpaired electrons and planar topology, these salts enabled the discovery and development of moleculebased materials exhibiting metal-like electrical conductivity, [2]
