✦ Synopsis
The improvements in experimental techniques achieved in the past decade make neutron S(k) measurements a powerful tool in the analysis of microscopic properties like the interparticle interaction law and in testing new refined theoretical approaches to the description of phase transitions. We present here the results of an experimental study performed on fluid Kr in the gas phase near the liquid gas transition. From the experimental data an estimate of the correlation length and its critical behaviour have been also derived, even though a more reliable determination of these quantities requires a closer approach to the critical conditions. Finally, the isothermal density derivative of S(k) along one of the investigated isotherms is reported.
