The optical absorption and emission spectra of l,l"-diethyl-2,2'-cyanine iodide as a guest in l,l'-diethyl-9-~~-2,2'-cyanine iodide have been obtained at 1.8 K. Several site orieins were identified, the most intense of which showed very strong guest-Iattice coupling.
