β¦ Synopsis
The ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN uses a scintillator-iron technique for its hadronic Tile Calorimeter (TileCal). A unique feature of TileCal is that the scintillating tiles are oriented perpendicular to the colliding beams and staggered in depth. All three TileCal cylinders were assembled in the ATLAS experimental cavern and moved to their final position. The final services for the central cylinder were installed and certified and currently the commissioning of the readout and the electronics is being performed. The status of the TileCal is presented as well as results from extensive test beam programs. Measurements of cosmic muons performed in the ATLAS cavern together with the electromagnetic liquid argon calorimeter and the muon chambers are shown.
