Measurements of the turbulent fluctuations of wind, temperature and humidity were made in the atmospheric surface layer. The statistics of the fluctuations were investigated in both the lime and frequency domains. The vertical wind, temperature and smaller-scale horizontal wind fluctuations appear t

Abstract
Correlation coefficients have been formed between the winds at pairs of points, the correlation being made between components along the line joining the points and also between components at rightβangles. The original purpose was the derivation of the effective winds experienced by aircraft. However, certain results are found which appear to throw light on the application of turbulence theory to the largeβscale pattern of winds and hence it is thought that the results may be of more general interest.

## Abstract Eddy correlation measurements of wind turbulence obtained at a sand spit on Sable Island, Nova Scotia, in winds ranging from gentle breeze to strong gale force agree with other recent measurements over water. There is a significant increase in the drag coefficient with wind speed which
## Abstract Distance functions serve for quantitative evaluation of the degree of similarity, shape content, symmetry, chirality, and so on. We have developed a general methodology and a general computational tool for the estimation of the value of the distance function and of the error in that est
