✦ Synopsis

We use continued fractions for a study of the thermodynamic properties of the periodic nonuniform spin-isotropic XY 2 Ž . chain in a non-randomrrandom Lorentzian transverse field. The obtained results permit to examine the influence of a magnetic field and randomness on the spin-Peierls dimerization.
