β¦ Synopsis
This work reports experimental data of the speed of sound in liquid trifluoromethane (HFC23, or R23) from T = (258 to 303) K at pressures up to 65 MPa, measured with a pulse-echo method adapted from Papadakis and Guedes et al. The results are fitted to a rational approximant and compared with literature data. Derived thermodynamic properties such as the isentropic compressibility ΞΊ s , the isothermal compressibility ΞΊ T , the cubic expansion coefficient Ξ± p , and the specific heat capacity at constant pressure c p are calculated by combining the present experimental data with the density values published by other authors. The estimated properties are compared, where possible, with literature data.

The speed of sound u in gaseous ethane of mole-fraction purity 0.9999 has been measured along 17 isotherms at temperatures between 220 K and 450 K. At temperatures of 300 K and above, the greatest pressure on each isotherm was chosen to correspond to that at approximately one half of the critical de
