## Abstract ## BACKGROUND: Anorectal malformations (congenital absence of the anal opening) are among the most common pediatric surgical problems and carry a significant chronic morbidity. ## METHODS: Direct sequencing was used to screen 88 anorectal malformations patients for mutations and poly
