Measurements are presented of the quantity of "prompt" NO formed by the addition of small amounts of various hydrocarbons to a wide range of well-defined premixed laminar flames of H 2, 0 2. and N 2. The effect of the following variables has been determined: residence time, N 2 concentration, hydroc
