✦ Synopsis

Heat capacity measurements of the liquid helium lambda transition in confined geometries have long been in disagreement with scaling theories of second order phase transitions. We present measurements of a 19 micron helium film which extend previous work to near macroscopic size. We find that the new data are in substantial agreement with recent renormalization group theory calculations.
