✦ Synopsis

This paper demonstrates that the case of slow chemical reactions is not a simple mathematical limiting case of already known equations of electrochemical mechanisms but one which has actually a physical singular bchaviour, relevant of a true homogeneous regime of the mass transport and chemical kinetic competition. Depending on the electroanalytical technique, the upper limit for consideringachemical reaction as slow ranges between 0.1 to 10' s-l which is sufficiently high to correspond to a large number of reactions. Experimental evidence of this regime is stated, the better understanding and diagnosis of mechanism which results is discussed and exemplified with the ECE mechanism and its solution electron transfer version. This comes as a complement of the reaction layer theory known for its performances and also for its limits precisely for slow kinetics. The resulting homogeneous/diffusional regimes approach simplifies complexmecha~isms modclling.
