β¦ Synopsis
Margot hears the unhearable. Humanity. Not special. One of millions of species in the universe come and gone over the eons. Presumptuous. Entitled. Reckless.
They took me from my planet. Earth. No longer a place of humans. No longer a place for me.
I awaken but am not here by choice. Strange beasts. Cockroaches. Family, friends, faces gone. Wheres my desert? I can still smell the wet creosotes these billions of miles away. Why am I one of the few left? Specimens for alien zookeepers.
Why did they not help? They were there, skulking, watching as we careened. It was not my fault humans were over the precipice. Maybe they always were. Inevitable. Falling and not knowing. Gambling in too many games, cascading risk upon risk.
My uniqueness sears my heart. How do I get out? How do I get back?
