The process of the absorption of sulfur dioxide into an aqueous slurry of calcium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide was theoretically analyzed according to the two-reaction-plane model incorporating the solid dissolution promoted by the reactions with absorbed sulfur dioxide in the liquid film. Theor
