Abstract
This article reports on solar observations by J.A. Hamilton and W. Gimingham at Armagh Observatory made in 1795–1797. A number of sunspot positions were obtained from the original observing notes, mostly from micrometer measurements. The period is particularly interesting for the understanding of the onset of the Dalton minimum and a possible minor cycle between the Cycles 4 and 5. For the same period, sunspot positions recorded by Staudacher were measured and published in an earlier paper (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
