✦ Synopsis
The purpose of the symposium is to increase knowledge of the performance of surgical implants and biomaterials, through discussion of the condition of surgically retrieved implants and surrounding tissue. The symposium also addresses methods of implant retrievaI and analysis. The international program consists of presentations accepted from among those received in response to the earlier "Call for Papers," a limited-enrollment workshop on implant-related histologic techniques, technical exhibits, and two evening social gatherings.
The meeting is structured across traditional divisions of professional activity. This framework, combined with a mountain retreat setting, is intended to foster new ways of thinking about surgical biomaterials and offers opportunities for after-hours discussions. The meeting is directed to surgeons, dentists, histopathologists, biomaterials scientists, and others interested in surgical implant and biomaterials performance and development.
