Abstract

Based on a case study of volunteers working on information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives through Openmind Projects (OMP), a Stockholm Challenge finalist and UNESCO‐supported organization based in rural Thailand, this poster presents initial findings of my current research project. Based on social positioning theory, this study seeks to find out how social roles are taken up, assigned and deployed in the non‐governmental organization (NGO) environment, and what effects and implications these roles have on information behavior.
