โœฆ Synopsis

Analysis of a nucleotide sequence from pea chloroplast DNA which spans the site of deletion of one copy of the large inverted repeat (IR) element suggests that the IR unit has been entirely deleted, but that the single-copy coding sequences which flanked it (trnHand ndh5) have been left intact. However, these flanking sequences have not simply been ligated together: between them there is instead a novel ~200 bp DNA sequence which includes two regions apparently derived by the duplication of fragments of the psbA and rbcL genes.

Tobacco chloroplast DNA contains a large inverted repeat sequence of 26 kilobase pairs (kbp). The inverted repeat is separated by 20 kbp small single-copy and 90 kbp large single-copy regions. We have cloned four DNA fragments containing each junction between the inverted repeat and the single-copy

A small restriction fragment length mutation has been mapped in the large inverted repeats of the chloroplast (cp) DNA of Munzia-Oenothera species (vom Stein and Hachtel 1986). This mutation could be localized within the intron of a reading frame presumably coding for subunit B of an NADH-dehydrogen

The gene for the 44 kD chlorophyll a-binding photosystem II polypeptide has been localized on the pea (Pisum sativum) chloroplast genome. The nucleotide sequence of the gene and its flanking regions has been analyzed. The gene codes for a polypeptide of 473 amino acid residues and is possibly cotran

In order to determine the localization of ribosomal protein genes on the chloroplast genome of Spirodela, we have followed two different approaches: First, antisera were prepared against purified 30S, 50S and 70S chloroplast ribosomal proteins from Spinacia. These antisera react with about two third

A physical map of black pine (Pinus thunbergii) chloroplast DNA (120 kb) was constructed and two separate portions of its nucleotide sequence were determined. One portion contains trnQ-UUG, ORF510, ORF83, trnK-UUU (ORF515 in the trnK intron), ORF22, psbA, trnI-CAU (on the opposing strand) and trnH-G
