After the events of The Thunderstar, Josyf Jada and his Guardians flee from Tenebria into the golden dunes of The Shimmering Sands just in time to participate in the Grand Tournament of Vale. Josyf hopes to use the tournament to recruit a final member of the the Guardians, the mysterious and powerful Topaz Scorpion.

In Provinceland, the capital city is surrounded by the recently returned Lord Prov and his army of Frost-blighted. Lord Prov's return has also brought upon an early and harsh winter which suffocates the food supply.
With Province City surrounded, and food stores running dangerously low, all hope is beginning to fade from those entrenched within the city walls.
That is until the grizzled Silver Shield veteran Chief Cole comes up with a plan to fight back using guerrilla style commando tactics, taking the fight covertly to the enemy.
