โฆ Synopsis
rapidly vaporizes. This rapid vaporization occurs because liquid helium has the lowest heayof evaporation, 6 g.cal (15 ยฐ C), of all known liquids: As a result of this, the evaporation rate from the dewar, and consequently the line pressure, increases. This increase is indicated on the differential pressure gauge. Then the flow of liquid helium from the supply is immediately shut off.
The vapour that is generated in the equipment during this transfer, and the helium that enters the equipment after shut-off, is drawn from the ballast tank and the exit line to the helium recovery system. In this manner almost no helium is lost, and the presence of significant quantities of the gas in the atmosphere of the building is eliminated.
