The terrestrial component of climate models requires computationally efficient algorithms for determining the multiscattered radiation contributing to its heating from solar radiation. Much of the vegetated land cover has strong 3D controls on its radiation. The scattering from a 3D object of isotro

β¦ Synopsis
This note is concerned with a variant of the trajectory space approach ([3], [4], [16]) which applies to reaction-diffusion problems with slow diffusion and jump discontinuities in the source term. Such problems arise from Budyko-type energy balance climate models, and typically the initial value problem for the resulting parabolic differential inclusion is not uniquely solvable. It will be shown that the shift-semigroup on a suitable trajectory space, a complete subset of a FrΓ©chet space of continuous functions, possesses a global compact attractor.
