It is suggested that this non-Newtonian ~,~haviom is due to the non-analytic behaviour of the deformation of the structure factor in shear flow. The structure factor shows boundary-layer behaviour at zero wave-vector; the width of the boundary layer varies as the square root of the shear rate.
