This series of biennial conferences was inaugurated in September 1996 and since then has established a reputation as a stimulating forum of international standing for discussions between experts in the industrial, government and academic sectors. Fatigue studies related to conventional structural materials employed in both civil and defense applications were presented via a sequential single session format to encourage in-depth discussion.
Participating were 122 delegates from 22 countries, with the largest delegations from the USA, France, and the UK. The meeting was comprised of 58 oral presentations including four keynote presentations, and 49 posters.
