✦ Synopsis
Experimental results ye given for magnetic&y aligned specimens of two nematogens at low momentum transfer using a back scattering spectrometer of high energy resolution (= IpeV fuhm). It is shown that information about both rotational and translational motions are contained in the data and values are obtained for the components of the self-diffusion tensor pe_qendicular and parallel to the nematic director for 5CB (CsHII $jJ-?j CN), D-SCB (CsD, 1 -) and D-MBCA (CD30 6 CH=N (8~ CN) and the diffusion constant for the isotropic liquid phase of D-SCB.
