✦ Synopsis
This unique collection explores the famously sexual tension between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in Arthur Conan Doyle's original short stories. Such a relationship would, of course, have been illegal in Victorian Britain and so would not have been recounted by Dr. Watson in his accounts of their adventures. The Secret Files of Sherlocki Holmes explores the gaps and silences in Watson's narratives by offering possible ways in which he and Holmes could have come together and sustained their relationship under the watchful eye of Victorian society. There have been many pastiches of Sherlock Holmes since the original stories first appeared. But while several of these have hinted at a sexual relationship between Holmes and Watson, none have explicitly explored this idea or considered what it might mean for the characters. The time is ripe for such a reappraisal. Here is a book that will be enjoyed by fans of the Conan Doyle canon as well as readers of historical and erotic fiction.
