✦ Synopsis

An integral part of the school psychology program at Temple is a supervised experience unit in a public school setting. A major purpose of a training program in school psychology is to prepare students to work effectively and in diverse ways with personnel in the public school setting. Too often psychological services is seen merely as a device to "process" children for placement in special classes and to "re-evaluate" such children at certain specified time periods. Few questions are raised as to the efficacy of this procedure or what other kinds of help the teacher may be seeking in connection with which the school psychologist might be useful.

In an effort to increase the value of the specialist working within the public school setting, a number of projects undertaken by school psychology students are reviewed. These are briefly described below, together with some of the details regarding their formulation and development. The value of the projects for both the school psychology student and the schools can only be considered in tentative terms as many of the activities described have only recently been initiated.
