## Abstract Biopsies of the sternocleidomastoid and omohyoid muscle were taken from 24 patients who underwent arthrodesis for cervical dysfunction of different etiologies. The two muscles, which are involved differently in movements of the head and cervical spine, were investigated histochemically.
