By rotating nng-dlsk expenments, the competition was studled between the anodlc decomposition of the GaP electrode and the stablhzatlon of this electrode by ferrous Ions m aqueous electrolytes ~th and wlthout 4 M LlCl added From the results, it follows that a different compehtlon mechanism 1s operatmg m the two media, leadmg to a substantial improvement of the stablhzatlon m the presence of 4 M LKJl These effects are attnbuted to the decreased water actlvlty m the 4 M LlCl solution, causing a shift m the eqmhbnum of a surface chemical reaction step of the multxqmvalent anodx decomposltlon reaction
