โฆ Synopsis
Despite the recent surge in interest in quality of life (QOL) measurement, surprisingly little attention has been paid to QOL in the field of psychopharmacology. Since psychopharmacology is a rapidly developing subject appraising the effect on overall QOL of new drugs is becoming increasingly important. The measurement of QOL in this area raises complex methodological issues; it is argued that there is a need for more QOL research in the field of psychopharmacology.

One way of examining trade-offs between quantity and quality of life (QOL) is to combine them into a single measure such as quality-adjusted life year (QALY). If censoring occurs, then estimation presents some difficulties. One approach, known as Q-TWiST, is to define a series of health states, use
Our purpose is to report the development and psychometric properties of a generic computer-delivered measure of health-related quality of life (HRQL) suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years, the Exeter HRQL scale (EHRQL). The theoretical model adopted is based on a definition of HRQL which assumes
